Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. We finally had some sunshine here after lots of rain, and my garden is loving it.

Thanks to everyone who shared your favorite thing to let go last week.

For this week, since summer time is the time a lot of us take vacations, I thought it might be nice to get some ideas from one another about some great vacation spots. Your question this week is

What’s your favorite place to go on vacation?

Please share some of  your favorite places to go, whether on a long vacation or just a couple of days. What makes it your favorite? Also, if you have a favorite place to stay or ‘must-do’ activity, please feel free to share that as well.

I hope you each have a fabulous weekend!

  1. vacations are something that we have a difficult time, swinging financially and physically, but I am so thankful if we can just get away for a day or so to experience or see something new!

    1. Thanks for sharing Wendi! My husband and I like to do what we call ‘one tank trips’ named after some travel books we used when we lived in Florida. Basically, it’s trips you can take on just one tank of gas. We’ve modified it to be places we can get to within an hour and a half. It gives us an opportunity to check out new places and still sleep in our own bed. It’s a great alternative when you don’t want to take an actual vacation. Have a wonderful weekend!

      1. Yes, we have done several of those with our children and still try to do some………it can be just so darn difficult! But, we can only do what we can do………..
May your weekend be blessed also!

      2. Yeah, having a chronic illness definitely throws a monkey wrench into the system. Like you said, we can only do what we can do, and taking care of our health has to come first. Blessings to you!

  2. It’s a difficult question for me. I love getting on a ship, sitting on my balcony, reading with my Kindle, or listening to an audiobook. I’d like this ship to go to England! And maybe make a stop at the Netherlands. And Iceland or Ireland or Denmark. Aruba would be good, too! And Disney (close to home) is always fun.

    1. Thanks for sharing George! Do you have a favorite cruise line? We’ve only been on one cruise so far, but we definitely want to go again. Which Disney Park is your favorite? We loved to go to the food and wine fest at Epcot every year when we lived in Florida. Have a great weekend!

      1. We do, Terri. Having been on several, we settled in on Royal Caribbean. I had a medical emergency 12 years ago, and they were outstanding. Each line has its own “feel,” so it’s kind of what a person wants.

    1. Thanks for sharing V.J.! Arizona is one of those ‘bucket list’ places for me. I see so many gorgeous photos of those slot canyons, I just want to go and see them for myself.😊 Have a fantabulous weekend!

  3. I love to staycation in summer as it really is very beautiful here in Donegal. However I do love to head somewhere warm in October. I love Bali and its culture. There is so much to do and the people are so nice. I would love to spend my winters somewhere warm 😊

    1. Thanks for sharing Brigid! From all the photos I’ve seen of Donegal, it looks like a magical place. I’m not surprised you choose to staycation.😊 Bali sounds wonderful too! Have a fabulous weekend!

    1. Sounds like a good plan. Will have to do that myself too (and not check WhatsApp or emails either!) I hope you get a good break, rest, recharge, de-stress 🙂

  4. I’ve only been on one proper vacation so I have to say Spain. Otherwise, the vacation I’d like is to get away from my own brain for a little while 🙂

    1. Ooh, I bet Spain was fabulous! I didn’t ever make it there when I lived overseas, but I always thought I’d love it. I like your idea of getting away from your own brain – I need that kind of vacation sometimes too.😊 Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Um, I am not going to name places but here is a takeaway chronic illness places at our door, IT has ruined a few of the vacations I went on. BUT! My husband and I are re-visiting those places I see myself in pictures of but DO NOT remember being… I look at it as a chance to re-trace my ‘history.’ Chronic Illness doesn’t get to win in the end!

  6. I have had many a lovely vacation over the years, so it’s hard to pick just one. I am currently in desperate need of a get-away!! But there’s nothing better than exploring new places, spending time with loved ones, waking up and drinking coffee on a deck or balcony and watching the sunrise and listening to the sounds of the ocean/mountains/lake – where ever you are! 🙂

    1. Thanks for sharing Cynthia! Every place you go truly has it’s own beauty, doesn’t it? I’m often asked what my favorite duty station was when I was in the Air Force, but it’s impossible to choose because each place was so special in its own way. Have a fabulous weekend!
