Happy Friday everyone, and welcome to June! It sure got here fast. I hope you’ve all had a lovely week.

Thanks so much to all of you who shared your favorite time of year last week. It was so interesting to see everyone’s favorite time and learn why they’re your favorites.

This week’s question comes from Marie at Create Space. She writes a wonderfully encouraging and uplifting blog. Please stop by and visit her!

Your question this week is

What’s your favorite thing to let go?

Whether it’s possessions (Marie says she’s experiencing freedom in minimizing possessions and maximizing experiences) or thoughts/emotions, what would you just love to let go of?

Marie’s was the last question I got when I asked back in April, but if you’d like me to ask a “what’s your favorite” question, feel free to comment below and I’ll keep asking!

  1. Just had this discussion with my granddaughter this morning – some things are worth getting upset over and some are not. Years ago, I studied meditation and mindfulness. Learning to ground myself in the moment and letting go of what did not serve was a great skill that gave me more patience and perspective on life.

    1. Thanks for sharing V.J.! My doctor and I just had a discussion about mindfulness the last time I saw him. He commented that I was good at relaxing when he told me to, and if you remember, that wasn’t the case when I first started seeing him… He has a theory that the more we’re able to relax, the better our prognosis, and he seems to think mindfulness exercises help with that. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Right now I’m enjoying giving away baby items. My last son just turned two and we’re embarking on a mini-clear out of items we should not be needing again. I do get moments of nostalgia but I’m happy for our family to be moving on to new phases as well.

If it’s what I’d ‘like’ to get rid of, well… I’d like to let go of the annoyance, frustration and heartache I have at being fobbed off with my health problems and then misdiagnosed for so long…feeling like it was my fault I couldn’t push harder than I did over those 10 years, and wondering how things could have been different if someone had taken me seriously back. I’d also like to let go of over-thinking and constant stressing. And I’d like to let go of the ‘hidden’ clothes stash I have of things that I can’t bring myself to throw away; they clearly don’t and won’t ever fit, and although I’ve already given so much away to charity or recycling, there’s a bag full I just can’t quite say goodbye to! Heck, there’s a lot of stuff I’d like to let go of 😉

    1. Thanks for sharing Caz! I’m so sorry that you’ve had to endure what you have with the medical establishment, and I’m sure it’s hard to let go of those emotions…. It’s interesting that when I read this question, my first thought was that I’d like to let go of unhelpful thoughts. Great minds think alike, huh? As far as your stash of clothes go, funny story about that – I had hung on to some clothes and finally decided to donate them in the Fall because I thought I’d never wear them again, and now I need them. I’ve had to buy all new clothes this Spring, which I could have avoided if I’d hung on to my stash.😄 Have a lovely weekend sweet friend!

      1. Oh dear, isn’t that just typical to finally get rid of those things and then need them?! Maybe the issue isn’t that we need to get rid of things… we just need to find better hiding places for it all!

Brilliant idea Caz! 😄 I’m really not attached to ‘stuff’ – I’m always getting rid of things I don’t need – but it’s hard for me to find clothes that fit because I have long arms and legs for my size, so I tend to hold on to the ones I find. Now like you said, I’ll just have to find a better hiding place.😊 Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

  4. Getting rid of a house full of stuff! My husband and I are downsizing to an RV. I figure it’ll take until next summer… if all goes well…until we are financially ready to make this move. We take bags and bags of stuff to thrift stores and family gatherings for our nieces and nephews to look at if they want anything. One thing I have noticed is the more stuff I let go of the more room I have for the good stuff to come in! “Letting go” means having room to receive new blessings. Kinda karmic! Caz and Terri, Let go of the old to make room for the new!

    1. I think you’re doing great in preparing now with the whole ‘out with the old’ mission. It’s quite a task! More room to receiving new blessings is such a fantastic way of viewing it, Kim. There will be lots of bright, positive times ahead for you, I’m sure of it. Have a lovely weekend.x

      1. Fear is one of those things I have to keep working on also. I think it’s kind of like the ‘acceptance’ stage of chronic illness where we revisit it from time to time. We may have to decide to let it go more than once. Hang in there my friend, and don’t give up on letting that fear go. Blessings to you!
